Obituary of Gregory Lynn Cain

Gregory Lynn Cain was born on August 17, 1956, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was one of three children born from the union of Jimmy Guy and Dorothy Louise (Stalik) Cain.  Following his graduation with the class of 1974 from high school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Gregory proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Later, he became gainfully employed as a welder in the Iron industry. He was a master craftsman, and his skills as a welder were unmatched.  Colleagues and friends often spoke of his meticulous work ethic and the precision with which he approached every project.

Fishing was one of Gregory's cherished activities, especially at his favorite spot at the park off Ready Road. These quiet moments of reflection were precious to him, providing a connection to nature that he deeply valued. The tranquility of nature was his sanctuary, a place where he found peace, casting his line until the sun dipped below the horizon.

Gregory's zest for life was evident in his love of cooking. His kitchen was a place of gathering, laughter, and joy, where he shared his culinary creations with friends and family. Each meal he prepared was a gift of love, showcasing his creativity and the deep pleasure he found in feeding those he cared for.

In his personal life, Gregory found his soulmate in JoAnn, who he lovingly referred to as his "better half." Their bond was evident to all who knew them, and their friendship was a source of strength and joy.

Gregory Lynn Cain, age 67, of Monroe, passed away at 10:54am, on Wednesday; March 27, 2024, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.  His passing was preceded by his father: Jimmy Cain.                 

To cherish his memory, he leaves his mother: Dorothy Cain of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a sister: Kelly Mirkin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a brother: Gary Cain of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and his companion: JoAnn Thompson of Carleton.

No local public services have been scheduled at this time. His care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
