Obituary of Rita Faye Wilhoyte
Rita Faye Oliver was born on July 1, 1955, in Hazard, Kentucky. She was one of twelve children born to the union of Robert Oliver and Vicie (Campbell) Oliver. Rita attended Hazard High School, graduating with the class of 1973. Following high school, she enrolled in the Moulton Technical School where she obtained her certificate in childcare.
Rita was employed for several years at the Lutheran Home in Monroe, Michigan. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, she was very devoted to the needs of her patients. Being a true caregiver, she enjoyed volunteering her time when she wasn’t at work at the local homeless shelter, Oaks of Righteousness. When she finally made time for herself, she liked doing crafts, crocheting, and tending to her flowers.
Rita also loved to travel all around the United States but found California was the destination she cherished the most. She truly treasured spending time with family. A devout Christian, she loved worship, and was a faithful and dedicated member of the Victorious Life Church of God in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Rita Faye Wilhoyte, age 68 of Monroe passed away under the care of ProMedica Hospice on Saturday; April 6, 2024, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Robert and Vicie Oliver; two brothers: William and Hiram Oliver; and one sister: Susie Couch.
To cherish Faye’s memory, she leaves six sisters: Adalee Gray of Eaton, Ohio, Fannie Tully of Livonia, Michigan, Gertie Oliver of Clay City, Kentucky, Nancy (Jack) Hubbell of Monroe, Ella Creech of Clay City, Kentucky, and Dorothy Ann LaPrad of Monroe; two brothers: Paul Baker of Vanceburg, Kentucky and Harvey (Janice) Oliver of Belleville, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Faye’s Life will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday; April 27, 2024, at Victorious Life Church of God, 860 East Clark Road, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198 with Pastor Scott Weaver, officiating. Faye’s care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe, 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
