Obituary of Helena A Shanteau
Helena A. Bruck was born on December 26, 1941, in Maybee, Michigan. She was one of nine children born to the union of Oscar Bruck and Helena A. (Young) Bruck. She attended Monroe High School, receiving her high school diploma in the spring of 1959. To help provide for her family Helena worked for more the twenty years at Saline Die Casting.
Helena was a very artistic individual who enjoyed writing in calligraphy and making homemade greeting cards for all occasions. She loved being outdoors whether she was working in her garden planting flowers and vegetables or out riding her CB100 motorcycle. She liked shopping and often visited Hobby Lobby. When it came time to relax, she enjoyed watching old westerns like Gunsmoke and Bonanza. Helena’s most cherished pastime was spending time with her grandson: Ethan, she loved watching him on his days off from school and going out for ice cream.
Helena A. Shanteau age 83 of Monroe, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday; October 6, 2024, at Hickory Ridge of Temperance. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Oscar and Helena Bruck; her husband: Richard Shanteau; a sister: Catherine Bruck; and five brothers: Ronald, Oscar, Arthur, Anthony, and Charles Bruck.
To cherish her memory, she leaves two sons: Michiel Jewell of Erie, Michigan and Larry H. Jewell Jr. of Maybee, Michigan; a sister: Rose Bruck of Maybee; a brother: Fred Bruck of St. Helen, Michigan; four grandchildren: Ethan Alexander Black, Sean Jewell, Brandon Jewell, and William Jewell.
No public services are planned at this time. Private Inurnment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in Lasalle, Michigan. Helena’s arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Erie; 9156 Summit Street, Erie, Michigan 48133 (734) 317-7199. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
