Joseph Henry Emerick was born in Monroe, Michigan, on December 8, 1949.  He was the son of Arthur Emerick and Rosemary (Goodell) Emerick.  Joe graduated from Airport High School in 1967. In 1971, he proudly served in the United States Army, completing a tour in Vietnam where he achieved the rank of Specialist 4. After his military service, he pursued a degree in welding engineering at Monroe County Community College, graduating in 1973. His career as a quality control welding inspector took him to various nuclear power plants, showcasing his expertise and dedication. His skill set was highly in demand and Joe traveled extensively for work, notably, he spent eight months in Indonesia contributing to the construction of a glass plant.

On June 16, 1973, Joe married Susan Murphy at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Carleton. They shared a loving partnership and were blessed with two children: Mark and Kimberly. Joe was an active member of the community, belonging to Divine Grace's Men’s Club and Carleton Post 4093 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as Grand Knight for K of C Council 15932, where he exemplified leadership and commitment to service.

Joe cherished his family, enjoying memorable moments playing golf, hunting, bowling and watching sports and NASCAR races, as well as gathering around the card table.

Joseph Henry Emerick, aged 74, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, in Midland, Michigan. His passing was preceded by his father: Arthur Emerick, a sister-in-law: Tammy Emerick; and a brother-in-law: Joe Payne.

Joe leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife of fifty-one years: Sue Emerick; two beloved children: Dr. Mark (Jackie) Emerick and Kim (Eric) Monske; four grandchildren: Lauren, Alex, Madison and Jacob; his mother: Rosemary Emerick; eight siblings: Arthur (Carolyn) Emerick, Chuck (Christina) Emerick, Walter Emerick, Gloria Payne, Kathy (Howard) LeCompte, Tom (Joan) Emerick, Steve (Debbie) Emerick, and Stan (Barb) Emerick.

Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday; November 22, 2024, at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm.  He will lie in state from 10:00am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am on Saturday; November 23, 2024, at Divine Grace Parish; 2996 West Labo Rd, Carleton, MI 48117.  Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery with graveside services under the auspices of VFW Post #4093.
