Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Bomay
Mary Bomay has left the earth but not our hearts.
Mary was wife to Richard (Dick) Bomay for 53 ‘glorious’ years as she put it.
Her 3 boys and their wives will miss her dearly; Richard and Sandra, David and Holly, Micheal and Amy Bomay, all were blessed to have such a caring, sweet, loving and supportive mother.
They all adored her, and will be ever beholden to her to try and live a life as she had; with honesty, selflessness with not an ounce of contempt or ill will towards anyone.
She was blessed with grandchildren; Alexander, Aniston, Brendan, Caitlin, Evan and Owen Bomay.
She loved her grandchildren, and was a “ partner in crime” to her youngest Aniston.
She was also a step grandmother to Brandon and Brittany and step great-grandmother to Bjorn, Emma, & Maddison.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Burger and father Patrick Reid, and dearest sister Patricia & her husband Don Rennie and finally adoring husband Richard (Dick) Bomay.
“She had a wonderful life”.. as she put it a few days ago speaking with her favorite Daughter in Law Holly.
She was “Aunt Mary” to Jerry, Janet, Joanne, Jimmy Bomay – All the Bomay, Reid, Schlorff, Fisher-Reid and Rennie children & many that were not related, but loved her as an aunt as well.
She was a devout Catholic parishioner of Saint Stanislaus Kostka in Wyandotte where she was a member of a church group the "Leftovers". She also attended Saint Anne's, Monroe and Saint Charles, Newport.
Mary was raised in a few different cities. Her father liked to roam. But has fond memories on the farm as well as in Lincoln Park. She often told stories of how she helped her older sister Patsie with her younger siblings; Terry, Patrick, Sarah and Peggy. She loved them all and they had a special place in her heart.
She attended Lincoln Park High School graduating with the Class of 1952. She was a real beauty in High School, but the boy’s lost out as after graduating, she devoted her life to the Bon Secor as a Nursing Nun.
Later finding the want for family, she met Richard, as she say’s “the love of my life”.
She then began her career as a Nurse at Wyandotte hospital, graduating a program to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Where she worked until retirement. She put her three sons thru college, and stuck with them when they faltered. Never doubting what they could become in life and praising them for not what they achieved, but how they achieved it.
She loved her friends, and always looked forward to her St. Stan’s gals visits.
She and Dick had a cottage on Stoney Pointe and has fond memories of the parties with friends Bill and Sharry and family swimming and dancing; as well as lunches with the WOW group,
She was without a doubt the kindest, friendliest, genuine, honest, compassionate women you could be fortunate enough to meet. She always put others first and always saw the best in people.
She was the sounding board for her family, friends and co-workers; she always listened and provided sound advice.
Her only vices… Good Food, Casino’s & Bingo.. she enjoyed them all but most when her family & friends were present. Mary was an avid reader, having read more books than anyone could try to count.
In her retirement she looked forward to snow birding each winter in New Port Richey, Florida.
She is at peace now with her husband, who she missed dearly.
We Love You Mom, You will be missed and remembered forever in our hearts.
