Obituary of Sessie Lee Manns Hall

Sessie Lee Manns Hall “Sug”, 93 of Newport, MI, departed this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.

She was born August 30, 1926 in Omar, WV the daughter of the late Sherman Smith and Laura Robinson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 37 years, Jesse Breck Manns; her second husband, Logie Hall; one daughter, Judy McKean; two sisters, Bea McNealy and Mary Harless; and one brother, Sherman Smith.

“Sug” loved her family and was always there for them. Her church was her passion. If the doors were open she was there, whether it be church services, revival, or singing. She enjoyed working in the garden, crocheting afagans and making things to give away. She also really enjoyed shopping.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Irene F. (Jim) Bowling of Newport, MI and Elaine C. Modos of Plymouth, MI; two sons, Arlie J. Manns of Proctorville, OH and Terry N. Manns of Newport, MI; one sister, Deloris (Pat) Jones of Jacksonville, FL; one sister-in-law, Sue Smith of WV; two brothers, James (Sherley) Smith of Texas and Arthur Erbie (Marcella) Smith of WV; four grandchildren, Kevin (Karen) McKean, Brandy Pearson, Arlie Dale Manns, Cristi (Mark) Ramey, and several step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was surrounded by her children, Irene, Elaine, Arlie, Terry and her son-in-law Jim when she passed.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, July 19, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home with Donald Manns officiating. Burial will follow at the Browning Cemetery, Harts, WV.

Friends may call Sunday, July 19, 2020 from 11:00 AM til 1:00 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
