Gary was a great friend to my brother Doug Dandron. Many a time he helped me out with problems over the years. He was a sweet, caring person and he will be very much missed in this world.

Suzanne, Mason, Scott, Denise, Nick and Dylan...I am so sorry for your loss. My heart is broken as I can't imagine not hearing Gary's stories, laugh, quick wit here on earth anymore. But my heart is full, knowing that him and Cathy will be together once again and neither of them are in any pain or discomfort. Thank you guys for sharing your Mom and Dad with me for the last 37 years. They always made me feel a part of the family. I will miss Gary checking in on us, sharing all his many stories with us and stopping by with treasures he found for my kids. He had a heart of gold!
You guys were his world and he was so proud of you both! Probably two of the best lessons I learned from him was that fortune didn't come in the form of dollar signs and when you believe in something, stand your ground and fight for it!
I love you all!

My heart is broken. My Uncle Gary such a rare gem! A light that made all the difference in our world. Many times over. A strength of presence I admired and looked up to. The cool as cucumber look you carried shades and all ( Mason has that look now)
All those trips ...you to Indiana and us to Michigan. As a kid, I remember you and Uncle Larry fun wrestling, joke telling, just being ornery while we were kids giggling so hard we couldn’t stop. I remember all the love.
I can see my dad and you working on paper ideas as talking about the lettering art you both loved. Your dedication and love to mom always unfailing even after situations quickly changed for her.
We all know so many great stories about you or that you told. We thanked God for your safe return from Vietnam. Your letters the best while we waited too. Hard to believe I won’t talk with you now.... but I will continue to thank God for the gift of our time together.... Even singing “I’ll fly away” in the car with mom... until we meet again dear Uncle xoxo ...Rest In Peace.

Gary was our next door neighbor on Maple Blvd. I remember he loved to draw, and was amazingly good at it. We neighborhood kids all had so much fun playing together, those were special, carefree years. I want to send my sincere condolences to Gary's family. May he rest in peace.

Oh, I loved him so. He was John Wayne and Robin Williams, with the most tender heart I have ever known. He cherished his family and loved his country to the bone. My best buddy for 72 years. "Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

I grew up in the same neighborhood and attended the same church as Gary and I can tell you he came from good people. I have way too many memories to share but I think Gary taking us for rides in Harold's old Ford while Harold was out of town would probably top them all. Did I mention this was before any of us had a drivers license?

Although we didn’t have much back in the early days, now I realize it was a blessing. Spending time restoring cars and putting hard work in it every weekend at the body shop was better than buying something you didn’t have sweat in. It helps when your Pops is the best auto body painter around.

"Bye, Wheel!" Since we were kids, Gary - AKA "The Atomic Kid" - and I usually greeted each other with.."Hi, Wheel!" so it only seems fitting to use it now to say "So long for a little while." Gary accepted Jesus as Lord of his life years ago so I look forward to our reunion one day in God's great Heaven. Renee and I send our deepest sympathies and prayers for comfort to his children, his extended family, especially sister Sharon (who was one of my earliest duet singing partners) and all who knew and loved him. I also especially thank him and honor his memory for his great service to our country atop one of the hotbed Artillery fire-bases with the US Army during the Vietnam War; things were never the same but we endured. Gary was also with me the evening we wrapped 109 rolls of toilet paper around General Custer's statue; fortunately, he was still a minor then and didn't have to go to jail with me when we got busted by the police for littering. LOL. What fun we had through the years and I rejoice in the great blessing of having Gary as my dear friend...

I loved the way you told history of family,Army service and your great humor and outlook on things. I will always value your friendship and remember the good times. I remember going with you to go get those Coke ice boxes/coolers and how much he helped me with my first truck getting it sanded and then you painted for me. I remember that laugh of yours and you coming out to the garage at my grandfathers and setting outside waiting for Granny to call us in for dinner.God bless.
